In year 2013, we have seen numerous productions in Indian cinematic industry. Some of them scored very high on box office results, whereas some couldn’t do well. But these ups and downs of movie ratings are part of the business.
We’re listing down some of the movies, which were released in 2013 by far and couldn’t perform well and as a verdict rated as the flop ones. This list has been compiled from the researches carried out by many expert critics. These include;
Inkaar was released on 18th January and was directed by Sudhir Mishra. The movie had a good cast with Arjun Rampal, the handsome manly figure of Bollywood, Chitrangda Singh and Deepti Naval. The movie was made on the story of sexual harassment cases at the workplace, but couldn’t do well targeting the right audience market. Although Sudhir has made some real good movies in past, but he couldn’t deliver the exact components of the targeted subject in the movie and also the solution at the end…resulting in the failure of the movie at box office.
David was released on 1st February under the direction of Bejoy Nambiar. The movie had Vikram, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Viney Virmani, Tabu, Lara Dutta, Isha Sharvani. Despite of the interesting 3 stories in the movie along with the heavy cast, the movie couldn’t deliver the desired results. The roles of the characters were badly conceived and written, but Neil Nitin Mukesh with his part of the story stood out in the movie throughout. But despite of all the efforts, the movie got a bad rating by the audiences as well.
3. I, Me aur Main:
I, Me aur Main, the John Abraham focused movie was released on 1st of March, with Prachi Desai and Chitrangda Singh in casting. The movie was directed by Kapil Sharma. Since John has maintained a status of high dignity through his heroic roles in majority of his movies, therefore his fans couldn’t accept him in the role of a looser. The movie was also not well written and with bad direction ended up really badly on the box office results.
4. The Attacks of 26/11:
The movie was specially based on the incident held in Mumbai back in 2008 about the terror attacks. Since the subject of 26/11 was really good, therefore people expected it to come out as a good watchable movie too, but came out as an opposite thing to their expectations. The movie was directed by renowned name of Bollywood, Ram Gopal Varma, and was released on 1st March. But somehow he couldn’t deploy best of his directional skills in the movie, making it a flop verdict on box office. The movie had Nana Patekar, Atul Kulkarni, Sanjeec and Jaiswal.
3G was directed simultaneously by Sheershak Anand and Shantanu Ray Chhibber. The movie had Neil Nitin Mukesh and Sonal Chauhan as leading roles, along with Ashish Kapoor and Mrinalini Sharma. Though 3G had a new concept but still came out as an illogical one and absurd. It wasn’t close to the reality and therefore people watching the movie were unable to relate anything to it. Although the movie was a thriller kind, but the audiences were laughing at it and thus couldn’t perform well in theatres,
The movie had a strong cast with seasoned actor Ajay Devgan in it, Tamannaah Bhatia, Paresh Rawal, Mahesh Manjrekar, Adhyayan Suman and Zarina Wahab. The movie was directed by Sajid Khan and was released on 29th March. The movie became a true failure because of poor direction and publicity. He claimed at the premier that the movie would make the business of around Rs. 200 crores, which embarrassed not only the crew but the cast of the movie as well. Though the budget of the movie was huge, but still the movie didn’t have any appeal to attract the audiences, for it was a real bad copy of the 1983 Himmatwala movie.
The movie starred Arjun Kapoor, Prithviraj Sukimaran, Sashaa Agha, Rishi Kapoor, Jackie Shroff after a long time, Swara Bhaskar and Deepti Naval. Atul Sabharwal directed the movie and was released on 17th May. Story board of the movie was really good and strong, and it had the potential of going all the ways of successes, but failed to the expectations because of its poor marketing and knowing that the movie was made under the banner of Yash Raj productions, it had to have a way better publicity than it got. However, Arjun’s acting stood out throughout and despite of the failure of the movie, his acting was much appreciated by everyone.
8. Ishkq in Paris:
Preity Zinta’s first production and her long time come back couldn’t do much for her this time too. The movie turned out to be a stale-looking film and was much delayed as well. It was released on 24th of May and was directed by Prem Raj. Along with Preity Zinta, the movie had Rhehan Malliek and Isabelle Adjani in its casting. The movie failed in the screens because of its poorly written script.
9. Yamla Pagla Deewana 2:
The movie Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 was a sequel to its former part and was released on 7th June, under the direction of Sangeeth Sivan. The movie had the family casting of Dharmendra, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol along with Neha Sharma and Kristina Akheeva. The movie was made to cash out money, but there was no solid reason for that in the movie, no solid plot and was poorly directed.
10. Shortcut Romeo:
Another Neil Nitin Mukesh movie along with Ameesha Patel and Pooja Gupta, which was released on 21st June couldn’t gather up the desired results. It was released under limited budget by director-producer Susi Ganesh, therefore it didn’t even get released in the multiplexes screens. It was a remake of Tamil movie Thiruttu Payale, but was proved to be a bad copy and verdict was a movie failure.
